At present, the School is equipped with aviation aerospace manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering and automation, micro-electromechanical systems engineering, industrial engineering, and industrial design total of five departments, consisting of aircraft manufacturing engineering, mechanical design manufacturing and automation, micro-electromechanical systems engineering, industrial design, industrial engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering and product design total seven majors. Among them, five majors, including aircraft manufacturing engineering, mechanical design manufacturing and automation, micro-electromechanical system engineering, industrial design, and industrial engineering, have been selected as national first-class construction majors. Two majors including mechanical and electronic engineering and product design have been selected as Shaanxi provincial first-class construction majors, ranked top among the mechanical schools in China.

All seven majors of the school have been selected as first-class majors in Shaanxi Province. The basic course system of mechanical design and manufacturing, which is composed of national outstanding teachers, national excellent courses and national planning textbooks, has become a resounding name card of mechanical engineering talent cultivation in Northwestern Polytechnical University.
